A 17-year-old girl was shot and killed on a Newark street, and a 17-year-old boy was wounded in the same shooting, authorities say.
Officers were called to the area of 573 South 17th St. Sunday night and found the girl, identified as Cheyenne Bond of Irvington, shot and unresponsive, prosecutors said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The boy was taken to Rutgers University Hospital with injuries.
Police haven't determined a motive or any suspects in the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact Newark Police or the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, who are offering a reward for information.
