Teen Gets Prison for Armed Robbery; Netted 7 Cents

A 16-year-old Syracuse boy has been sentenced to up to four years in state prison for beating and kicking a 73-year-old man and robbing him of seven cents.

The Syracuse Post-Standard reports that Skyler Ninham said nothing before Onondaga County Judge William Walsh imposed the sentence for first-degree robbery on Tuesday.

The sentence included granting Ninham youthful offender treatment which removes the felony conviction from his record and seals the case file.

Two days earlier, 15-year-old co-defendant Anthony Stewart was found guilty by a jury of first-degree robbery. He could face three to 10 years in juvenile detention.

Prosecutors say the victim was on his way to a store last December when the two teenagers ran up from behind, knocked him into a snowbank, and kicked and punched him.
