Teen Fatally Stabbed by 16-Year-Old Boy in Sleepy Hollow: Police

A 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in a park in the village of Sleepy Hollow and another teenager was charged Saturday with his murder, police said.

Tahj Robinson, a former student at Sleepy Hollow Middle School, died at Westchester Medical Center after village police found him bleeding from multiple stab wounds late Friday night in Barnhart Park, investigators said.

Robinson, known to his friends as "Telly," had moved away from Sleepy Hollow and had been living in New Jersey, police said.

Early Saturday morning, police tracked a suspect, 16-year-old Berinzon Moronta of Tarrytown, to Yonkers and charged him with second-degree murder, investigators said. No information was available as to whether Moronta had an attorney who could comment on the charge.

Investigators didn't disclose a motive for the stabbing.

"It was just a fight that went to something else," said Ziel Rodrigues, a friend of Robinson.

Robinson had returned to Sleepy Hollow to visit friends for the school's homecoming weekend.

The Tarrytown School District said Saturday's homecoming football game had been postponed because of the stabbing.

“The Tarrytown School District is saddened by news of the passing of a former student and will provide counselors throughout the weekend and into next week for current students, family members and staff,” school officials said in a statement.

Robinson was an aspiring rap artist, his friends said.
