Teen Wounded When Bullet Goes Through Wall of Apartment

Authorities say a teenage boy doing his homework was wounded when a bullet went through the wall of his family's apartment in Newark.

City police say the shooting occurred late Tuesday.

The 13-year-old told authorities he was at his desk when he heard a loud boom, but didn't realize he had been shot. He later woke his mother and told her he couldn't move his arm, and she saw a bullet hole in his shoulder.

Officers found a bullet hole in a wall of the apartment. But it's not clear if the bullet was intentionally fired into the unit or if it was a stray shot.

The boy was treated at a hospital, but further details on his condition were not disclosed.

No arrests have been made.
