Boy on Bike Shot, Killed 3 Blocks From Where Brother Was Killed 3 Years Ago

A Queens family is grappling with the shooting death of a teenage son just three years after his older brother was gunned down in the same area.

Neshawn Plummer died Tuesday, two days after he was shot in Far Rockaway three blocks from where his older brother Shawn was killed in a similar attack in the summer of 2012, police and relatives say.

Both were riding their bicycles on Seagirt Avenue when they were shot, though police say they don't think the shootings are connected.

Friend Tyshor Figora witnessed both shootings.

"I come outside, it's almost the same picture as his brother," he said. "In my head, it didn't seem right."

Police have released a sketch and surveillance video of the suspect in Sunday's shooting. Neshawn's mother shared the video on social media with a plea saying: "For the person or persons that murdered my 16-year-old son Neshawn Plummer, how far can you run?"

NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said detectives believe the suspects live in the area and that the shooting appears to have stemmed from a dispute with some of Plummer's friends, not Plummer.

His mother told NBC 4 New York over the phone she had moved Neshawn from Far Rockaway to Bed-Stuy recently to escape the violence, but he remained close with his friends in the Queens neighborhood.

The case of Shawn Plummer's shooting remains unsolved.

"I hope they have better luck finding Neshawn's killer than they did with Shawn's," said the boys' aunt, Teresa Feliccea. "Both of the boys were in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Figora, still mourning the death of Shawn Plummer, is devastated by another loss.

"Ever since he passed, I tried to look out for Neshawn because I looked at Shawn as one of my brothers, so when I look at his little brother, he's my little brother," he said.
