Brooklyn Teacher Charged With Child Endangerment

A Brooklyn teacher has been charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child for what city Department of Education officials said was an outside-the-classroom offense.

Laura Aguero, 35, was arrested early Thursday, police say.

Specific details of her arrest weren't immediately available, but a DOE spokeswoman says the alleged incident that led to her arrest was not school-related.

"While this alleged behavior is not school-related, it is unacceptable," the spokeswoman said. "Ms. Aguero has been reassigned away from any classroom, and will not be in contact with students. The safety and security of our students is our top priority."

Aguero has worked for the DOE since February 2004 and became a teacher later that year.

Attorney information for the woman wasn't immediately available.
