Taxi Passenger Killed in Long Island Crash

A passenger in a taxi was killed Sunday when the cab overturned after colliding with a jeep on Long Island, investigators said.

The male passenger, whose identity was being withheld until family could be notified, was thrown from the cab during the accident, which occurred on Nicolls Road in Holtsville, Suffolk County police said.

The taxi was traveling adjacent to a 2014 jeep at noon when the two vehicles collided near Express Drive South. Both vehicles then drove into the center median and the cab flipped over, investigators said.

The taxi driver was treated for injuries at Stony Brook University Hospital. The driver of the jeep wasn't injured.
