The attempted murder suspect who got away from police while still in handcuffs has been captured in the same Manhattan neighborhood where he escaped, the NYPD said.
Tareek Arnold, 23, was located by U.S. Marshals and NYPD detectives inside an apartment on Fifth Avenue in Harlem Monday night, police said. He was being transported to the 32nd Precinct stationhouse.
Arnold had escaped while in police custody at 134th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue on June 23. Police said Arnold was being taken to Manhattan central booking, with his hands cuffed behind his back, when he pushed the officer guarding to the ground and took off. Surveillance video showed him running down the street in a white T-shirt and pants as two law enforcement officers chase him.
Authorities said the officer Arnold attacked was not seriously injured.
Police had been searching for Arnold in a total of 50 locations, including the Bronx and places out of state, and spoken with 20 associates, officials have said. A special task force was also set up to find him.
Arnold is part of the 40 Wolves gang based in central Harlem, police said.
Arnold has two tattoos -- one that says "troll" and another that says "militant soldiers." The circumstances surrounding the attempted murder charges against him weren't immediately clear.

He was additionally charged with assault on a police officer and escape, police said. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
