Remains Found Near Maryland, NJ Identified as Missing Staten Island Woman

Two sets of human remains found three years ago off the coast of Maryland and New Jersey are believed to belong to a Staten Island woman who went missing in 2010, authorities said Thursday.

The remains -- a skull found in August 2010 by a fishing boat in Ocean City, Md., and a tibia found in April 2011 by another fishing boat -- have been identified as Sylvia Cuttitta, 54.

The ID was made by the New Jersey State Police forensics division through DNA. The medical examiner is still working to positively identify the remains.

Cuttitta was reported missing in January 2010 from Staten Island. She was last seen in her South Beach home, and left without any ID, money or credit cards.
