Rockland Campaign Signs Defaced With Swastikas: Police

Police are investigating a series of campaign signs defaced with swastikas in a heavily Orthodox Jewish section of Ramapo

Several campaign signs in a Rockland County town were spray-painted with swastikas a day before Election Day, police say.

Ramapo police are investigating the vandalized signs in Monsey, found on Maple Avenue and Route 306, Blauvelt Avenue and Route 306, and Carlton Road and West Maple Avenue.

Police believe the signs were defaced at around midnight Sunday.

Two of the signs were for Christopher St. Lawrence, who is running for Ramapo supervisor. The other was for David Fried, who is running for Rockland County executive. Both are Democrats.

Fried is the grandson of Holocaust survivors, according to the biography on his campaign website.

Monsey is comprised of a heavily Orthodox Jewish community within Ramapo.
