Before the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks duke it out on the gridiron Sunday at MetLife Stadium, football fans will be battling to light up the Empire State Building with one of the Super Bowl-bound teams’ colors.
The group that runs the skyscraper teamed up with Verizon Wireless to put on what it is calling the first-ever series of social media-driven light shows atop the midtown Manhattan building, according to a news release from Verizon.
Each day this week, Verizon will tweet a Super Bowl-related question with the hashtag #WhosGonnaWin. The wireless carrier will track fans’ responses throughout the day.
A current or former NFL player will flip a switch each day at 6 p.m. and colors from all 32 teams will emblazon the top of the Empire State Building for about an hour, followed by the results from the day’s questions.
If more fans tweeted answers in favor of the Broncos, the lights will be orange and blue. If Seahawks fans have the lead, they will be blue and bright green.
