Police on Long Island are investigating a hit-and-run that left a woman dead in Mastic.
Suffolk County police say Erika Hughes, 24, was walking in the street on Mastic Road south of Riverside Avenue when she was struck and killed just before midnight Thursday.
The driver left the scene.
The car is described as a dark truck, possibly a utility vehicle or pickup.
