Subway Turnstile Jumper Had Loaded Gun: Police

Police say a man they stopped for jumping a subway turnstile was carrying a loaded semi-automatic handgun.

Two officers stopped the 22-year-old man after observing him jump the turnstile at the 145th Street station in Manhattan Wednesday night, according to the NYPD.

After conducting a warrant check police say they discovered he was a repeat transit offender. As they placed him under arrest, police say the officers discovered the loaded Walthers .380 caliber handgun.

Police identified the suspect as Otha Williams of the Bronx. He faces charges of criminal possession of a weapon, theft of service, criminal trespass and other charges.

It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.
