Subway Rider Stabbed in Back While Getting Off Train in Brooklyn: NYPD

A subway rider was stabbed in the back after getting into a fight with another passenger on the train in Brooklyn Wednesday evening, police said. 

The victim was getting off the C train at the Rockaway Avenue subway station in East New York at about 7 p.m. when the suspect stabbed him, police said. 

The suspect jumped onto the tracks and fled into the tunnel, according to police. 

The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. 

It's not clear what sparked the fight on the train. Police are searching for the suspect.
