Subway Groper Is in the Slammer, Cops Say

Suspect spotted at Queens subway stop by woman who recognized him

New York City police say they have arrested a suspect caught on cell phone camera after he groped a woman on a subway train during the morning rush hour.

Police say the man has at least 30 prior arrests for sexual abuse, robbery, assault and theft.

The most recent victim, a 33-year-old woman, had boarded a W train in  Astoria during rush hour Tuesday morning. She told police a man who was sitting next to her on the Manhattan-bound train fondled her buttocks. As she got off at Queensboro Plaza, she snapped a cell phone photo of him.

The suspect was spotted at a subway stop in Queens by another woman who recognized him from the image, and he was arrested  outside the nearby Bay 50th Street station of the N line.

He is being held at the transit precinct and charges are pending.
