A man fell 20 feet down a subway grate in Queens Tuesday, authorities say.
Emergency personnel who responded to a 911 call didn't say how the man fell down the grate on Jackson Avenue shortly before 11 a.m. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center in serious condition.
According to The New York Post, the man was trying to retrieve a set of keys that had fallen down the grate. His age wasn't known.
Witnesses posted photos on social media of a heavy emergency presence at the scene.
