Subway Dancer Punched, Spit on Straphanger for Recording Routine: NYPD

A subway dancer attacked a straphanger late last month, punching and spitting on the 55-year-old commuter for recording his routine, police say.

The suspect was among a group of "showtime" dancers twirling on the pole of an E train heading from Manhattan to Queens Plaza on Sept. 24, according to the NYPD.

The victim pulled out his phone to record their performance, police say, and the suspect told him to turn off the phone and stop capturing the moment. Then, cops say, the suspect punched the 55-year-old in the mouth and spit on him.

The suspect, thought to be between 18 and 25, left the train after it arrived at Queens Plaza, according to police.

The 55-year-old man suffered a split lip from the attack.

Anyone with information about the attacker is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
