4 NYC Students Taken to Hospital After Ingesting Xanax: Officials

A student admitted to bringing the prescription drugs into school and selling it to a group of students

Four students were taken to the hospital from a Queens high school Tuesday afternoon after they ingested a prescription drug, authorities say.

Ambulances responded to the Frank Sinatra School of Arts High School in Astoria at about 3 p.m., and took four people to Elmhurst Hospital.

The four students were not seriously sickened.

Department of Education officials said a student admitted to bringing in and selling Xanax to a group of students. At least one student is being arrested, and disciplinary action is pending.

Xanax is prescribed for the medical treatment of panic and anxiety disorders.
