2 Students Bring BB Guns to NYC Schools: Officials

Two students brought BB guns to New York City schools on Wednesday morning in unrelated cases, officials said.

One student brought a BB handgun to Erasmus Hall High School in Flatbush, Brooklyn, at about 8 a.m., according to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local No. 237. The union said that another student, 19, was caught with a BB gun at the Campus Magnet Building, which houses five small high schools in Cambria Heights, Queens.

The union said that the BB guns were both found through a routine scanning.

It's not clear if the students face charges.

The Department of Education said in a statement that the NYPD removed the BB gun from Erasmus Hall High School and that students and staffers are safe.

"Nothing is more important than the safety of all students and staff," the statement said.
