More than 50,000 runners are expected for the TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, which weaves through all five boroughs. While runners will have priority over the streets of the course, others may have a more difficult time getting around town.
Also this year, runners and spectators alike should expect even more security along the route after a man drove a truck down a bike lane in lower Manhattan, leaving eight people dead and a dozen others injured in what officials have called an ISIS-inspired terror attack. Expect to see more sand trucks, blocker vehicles and observation teams than in years before.
According to the city Department of Transportation, the following streets (sorted by borough) will be closed Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.:
