Stern's Wife Completes NYC Marathon, Raises 300K for Charity

Beth Ostrosky raises 300K for North Shore Animal League

It sounded like a New York version of a favorite Elvis Presley sandwich: a bagel stuffed with peanut butter and bananas.

On Sunday, that's what newlywed shock jock Howard Stern made for his wife Beth Ostrosky -- to get her carb-ready for the New York Marathon. She finished in 4 hours, 15 minutes -- better than the five hours the 36-year-old former model was aiming for.

Her 54-year-old husband and 15-year-old stepdaughter Ashley were at the finish line with hugs and tears of joy for Ostrosky, who married Stern last month.

Retired tennis great Monica Seles had sent her an e-mail before the race.

"She told me to use my nervousness to keep going," Ostrosky said.

But what kept her going most through the more than 26-mile course was, "I just kept thinking about seeing Howard and Ashley on the finish line."

Ostrosky and 20 others ran to raise money for Long Island's North Shore Animal League -- $295,000, plus $5,000 from Stern for an even $300,000.
