Staten Island Man Accused of Shooting Pregnant Woman in Face During Robbery

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a string of robberies on Staten Island, including one last June when a pregnant woman was shot in the face.

The suspect, Abdourahmane Seck, is accused of robbing and shooting 28-year-old Marisela Vasquez as she was walking near Castleton and Port Richmond avenues early on June 17.

Police say the robber shot the woman, who was two months pregnant, when she refused to give him cash.

Vasquez was taken to the hospital and recovered, but sources told the Staten Island Advance that she lost her unborn child due to complications from the injury.

Seck, 25, is also accused of committing five other robberies last week on Staten Island, police say. He is charged with one count of attempted murder and six counts of robbery.

It isn't immediately known if Seck has an attorney.
