Staten Island Pipe Fitter to Claim $136 Million Powerball Jackpot

A Staten Island pipe fitter who left a $136 million-winning Powerball ticket in his basement is set to claim the prize.

The New York Lottery announced that on Thursday it will present a check to the man who purchased the jackpot ticket from a 7-Eleven on Page Avenue in Richmond Valley before the March 14 drawing.

The lottery says the man accidentally left the ticket in his basement pinned behind a pipe.

It's not clear if the man chose to claim the the jackpot of $136 million over 30 years or as an $88.53 million lump sum payment.

It's the third time in recent months that winning tickets have been sold in New York. In November, a Sullivan County man was the sole winner of a $326 million Mega Millions Jackpot. And in February, a $126 million-winning Mega Millions ticket was also sold in Sullivan County.
