Spend New Years With Governor and Mrs. Paterson

Despite everything that's gone on in Albany this past year (or, perhaps, because of it) we really do love the Patersons: Governor David with his never-say-die, awkwardly-jokey attitude. And his wife, Michelle, with her grace and candor.

That's why we were a little elated to see that the Patersons are continuing the tradition of opening the doors of the Executive Mansion to the public on New Years day (with a nod to Gotham Gazette for bringing it to our attention.)

From the Gov's website:

Governor David A. Paterson and First Lady Michelle Paige Paterson plan to continue the New Year’s Day tradition of opening the doors of the Executive Mansion to the public.

Tickets to the open house will be made available to interested New Yorkers who register using the form below. In the event that the number of requests exceeds the number of available openings, attendees will be randomly selected by lottery.

The Executive Mansion Open House will be held from 10:00AM to 12:00 PM on January 1, 2010 and registrants will be notified of their selection via email on December 30th and receive a ticket at that time.

Each individual receiving a ticket will be allowed to bring a guest and any children from their household. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

There's not much time left to get in, however -- registration ends on Sunday Dec. 27 at 11:59pm.
