Queens Mother of Two Shot Dead Outside Home

Investigators say a dispute at a neighborhood bar may have led to the deadly gunfire.

A 39-year-old mother of two was fatally gunned down as she chatted with her husband and another man on her Queens stoop over the weekend, police say.

Sandra Bajnath was hit in the torso as more than 20 rounds were fired off during the shooting early Sunday, police say. Investigators say a dispute at a neighborhood bar may have led to the deadly gunfire.

Bajnath had been speaking with her husband and a 26-year-old man outside her Ozone Park home at about 5:30 a.m. when two men approached and began shooting, according to authorities.

Bajnath was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 26-year-old man was shot in the back. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Neighbors described a hail of bullets at the scene.

"I heard five, six, maybe seven shots," said one neighbor. "I was getting up to get dressed to go to work. I came out and everybody tells me, this lady's been shot. I can't believe it. It's right on my stoop, basically."

The investigation is ongoing. There have been no arrests.
