Sleeping Homeowners Targeted in Overnight Burglaries in NJ: Police

Police in a New Jersey community are warning residents about burglars sneaking into homes overnight and stealing valuables while the residents are asleep.

Three overnight break-ins have been reported in South Brunswick since Saturday, according to police. In each case, someone got into the home through an unlcoked window, garage or sliding glass door.

Police said none of the residents realized their homes had been burglarized until they woke up and looked for the stolen items.

The burglars usually take the valuables from the point of entry on the first floor, police said. Wallets, purses and other valuables have been taken.

Residents are urged to secure their doors and windows before going to bed each night.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or South Brunswick Police at 732-329-4646.
