Son of Jersey City Mayor Charged With Domestic Violence

A Jersey City firefighter and the son of the city's mayor, Jerramiah Healy, was arrested in Hoboken on charges of simple assault and domestic violence, law enforcement officials said Friday.

Witnesses called police early Thursday morning after Jeremiah S. Healy, 34, was allegedly involved in an altercation with a woman on Washington Street.  Details of the incident are still being sorted out, police said.

Mayor Healy said in a statement his son is innocent.

"According to the information I have, no one was injured, no one was assaulted and there was no domestic violence of any kind. This will be borne out by the facts," Healy said.

"I love my son very much and support him 100 percent," the statement said.

Jerramiah Healy has two daughters and another son, Patrick, who is also a Jersey City firefighter.
