Soggy Weather Floods Streets on Long Island; Flood Warning in New Jersey

Coastal flooding posed problems for some in the tri-state Wednesday.

On Long Island, some streets were seen covered in water in Freeport.

A flood warning was also issued for small streams in parts of New Jersey. That warning was for Southeastern Hunterdon County and West Central Somerset County, according to Storm Team 4.

The warning was in effect until 2:30 Friday morning.

Gusty thunderstorms will cross the region overnight. The storms will develop in several clusters, Storm Team 4 said. As the storms pass over, they will bring heavy downpours, isolated pockets of gusty winds and even small hail stones.

Rain will taper off Friday morning, meteorologists said, and the sun will come out intermittently with a few pop-up showers throughout the day.

The weekend will be far from a washout, Storm Team 4 said, however, a few showers are expected.

Saturday will stay dry, along with most of the day on Sunday, with showers targeting the area after 5 p.m that could linger into Memorial Day. Showers are only expected for parts of Monday, Storm Team 4 said. Another round of showers will pop up late in the day.

A warm up and quieter weather is expected next week, Storm Team 4 said.
