Small Plane Crashes Into L.I. Commercial Building

At least two taken to hospital

A small plane crashed into a Long Island commercial building Saturday afternoon, county fire officials confirmed.

Authorities said two people were transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center, but it wasn't immediately clear how badly they were hurt or if others were injured when the two-seater Beechcraft went down on Ocean Avenue in Bohemia.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the pilot had been practicing landings at nearby Long Island MacArthur Airport when the plane went down about a half mile from the runway just after 3 p.m.

Fire officials say the plane burst into flames when it hit the structure and that firefighters were on the scene.

No further information was immediately available.
