NJ Woman Hurt Skydiving from Balloon

State police say a New Jersey woman has been injured in an upstate New York skydiving accident that left her atop a stone wall.

They say a group of four hired a balloon Sunday to carry them up about 4,000 feet for a dive over the town of Wawayanda, about 60 miles north of New York City.

Troopers say the balloon launched at about 7:15 p.m. and the four jumped, but something went wrong for 33-year-old Helen Woznack, of North Arlington, N.J.

She ended up on the stone wall with head and internal injuries. Witnesses say her chute opened. Investigators are trying to determine what happened.

Woznack is being treated at Westchester Medical Center. A hospital spokesman wasn't available at midday Monday to comment on her condition.
