Woman's Skeleton, Man's Skull Stolen From Queens Mausoleum: Police

Police say the man and woman had been dead since 1928

Authorities are looking for the person or people who stole a woman's skeleton and a man's skull from a Queens mausoleum, likely on Halloween.

Police say the grave robber or robbers entered Acacia Cemetery in Ozone Park at some point between 2 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday and stole the remains of the man and woman who died in 1928.

The New York Post, which first reported the grave heist, said police don't believe anyone had been to visit the remains since the 1980s.

The mausoleum held 10 crypts. A cemetery worker told the Post scattered bones and old burial shrouds were left strewn around the tomb after the theft.
