Skating Rink at Rockefeller Center Opens

It may be Columbus Day, but it's starting to look like winter at Rockefeller Center.

The famed skating rink in front of the building that houses NBC 4 New York's studios opened Monday, hearkening the beginning of the winter season in New York City.

Olympic ice dancing gold medalists Meryl Davis and Charlie White performed for the opening.

Retired Rangers player Rod Gilbert then led a ceremonial first public skate around the rink.

The Rink at Rockefeller Center first opened on Christmas Day in 1936.
