6 Wanted for Questioning After Shots Fired at Plainclothes Officers in Queens: NYPD

Six people are wanted for questioning after shots were fired at officers outside a public housing complex Sunday in Queens, according to the NYPD.

Two plainclothes officers were patrolling the Redfern Houses in Far Rockaway at about 1:45 a.m. when they parked their unmarked vehicle across from a group of six people they were observing, police said.

The officers got out of the car and tried to enter one of the buildings to get to the roof, but an unidentified man approached them and took out a gun, according to police. The man allegedly fired at the officers three times before fleeing in an unknown direction.

The officers did not return fire and took cover while calling for backup. They were taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center with minor injuries. One officer was treated and released for ringing in his ears and the other was treated and released for back spasms and a bruised knee.

Officers did not recover a firearm, but found three 9mm shell casings in front of the scene.

Police have released a video of three of the men wanted for questioning.
