Severe Weather Watch Issued for NJ, NY

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect through a sizable part of the tri-state region this afternoon with the northern suburbs of New York City and six New Jersey counties in the line of strong rain and winds.

The storms and frequent lightning are possible until 9 p.m., the National Weather Service said.

Counties under the watch include Hunterdon, Somerset, Morris, Sussex and Warren counties in New Jersey. In New York, a watch is issued until 9 p.m. in Greene, Columbia, Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, Sulivan, and Ulster counties.
