Serial Burglar Busted in 10 S.I. Robberies

41-year-old accused of stealing MetroCards, tobacco and perfume, among other items.

A 41-year-old Staten Island man has been arrested in connection with at least 10 robberies at delis, gas stations, bars and coffee shops over the last four months in the borough.

Police say Roger Fischer stole an array of items, including MetroCards, food, tobacco, perfume, lottery tickets, phone cards, computer equipment, cash and even a cash register throughout his robbery bender, which began on February 4 and continued almost weekly until his arrest.

In each incident, the hat-wearing bandit accessed the location through a window or by breaking through a rear or side wall, police said.

Fischer was charged with 10 counts of burglary, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal mischief.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Fischer had a lawyer, nor when he would be arraigned.
