Security Breach Closes Part of Newark Airport

It was the second such inident in a month

Another security breach closed down a section of Newark Liberty International Airport for about an hour on busy Presidents Day.

The Transportation Security Administration says the X-ray detected what appeared to be wine bottles in a passenger's carry-on. He was referred to a secondary screening because of the ban on carrying more than 3 ounces of liquids.

TSA spokeswoman Ann Davis says screening was halted in Terminal A around 4:45 p.m. Monday because the man apparently walked away. Davis says he was never located and apparently boarded his flight.

The incident occurred more than a month after officials said a Rutgers graduate student from China entered a secure area to say goodbye to his girlfriend. The Jan. 3 incident shut down Newark's Terminal C for hours and delayed passengers worldwide.
