Security Beefed-Up at Giants Game, City Landmarks

New Jersey State Police troopers on alert after the deadly Paris attacks greeted football fans at the Giants-Patriots game Sunday in East Rutherford.

Law enforcement officials stressed that there was no credible threat, but out of caution after the attacks, police decided to increase staffing for a more visible presence.

Police said earlier they were learning more about the tactics used in the Paris attacks and were applying that information to improve their plans.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police spokesman Joe Pentangelo also said the department was on heightened alert. He said actions include increased patrols and checks of bags, buses, trucks and trains at agency locations.

Officials said people should remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to police.

New York Police officials deployed additional units to sensitive locations around the city in the aftermath of the Paris attacks.

Heavily armed officers, including the NYPD Operation Hercules teams, were immediately dispatched to the French Embassy, other diplomatic posts and sensitive New York landmarks.

The NYPD Counterterrorism Response Command and Critical Response Group have been dispatched to crowded areas of the city.

Local authorities said the mobilization was a precaution and there are no known threats in New York City.
