A search for a missing kayaker continued Sunday in the waters of the Hudson River.

Dutchess County Sheriff's Capt. John Watterson said the efforts to find Ian Jones resumed around 7:30 a.m. Sunday after being suspended late Saturday night.

Jones, 32, and his girlfriend, Tali Fruchtmann, 22, daughter of singer Annie Lennox, started kayaking early Saturday morning. Around 10 a.m., while paddling near Mills Mansion, a historic home in the hamlet of Staatsburg, the kayak overturned and the two went into the water.

Neither was wearing a life jacket and alcohol might have played a role in the accident, Watterson said.

Fruchtmann was picked up by passers-by on a boat after being separated from Jones in the water.
