Mexican Flag Raised Outside Trump Golf Course in Scotland: Report

A Scottish resident has raised Mexican flags outside Donald Trump’s golf course there in protest of the presumptive presidential nominee’s stances on immigration.

David Milne told Buzzfeed News that he raised the flag outside Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire “to show solidarity with the Mexicans and every other group that Trump has decried, derided, insulted and tried to marginalize.”

The flag was raised shortly before Trump’s scheduled visit to Scotland to open another golf course there.

Milne told Buzzfeed that his effort is one of just several actions targeting Trump that he and other residents in the have taken since the golf course opened along the Scottish coast in 2012.

“We wanted to point out that while he seems to think he can say what he likes in one place and not hear about it elsewhere, he is wrong,” he said. “If he insults someone in the States, it doesn’t mean we don’t hear about it here. We wanted to show solidarity but we don’t think he is worth doing anything more.”

Milne told Buzzfeed that he and other residents have been resisting attempts by Trump to buy their land for years and that he raised a smaller Mexican flag outside the course earlier this year. He also posted a sign outside his house when the course opened in 2012 saying “Trump is the greatest liar.”
