Sarah Ferguson alluded to her influence-peddling scandal while appearing at a Manhattan book promotion.
The Duchess of York quipped to an audience of book sellers on Wednesday: "As you all know, I really don't like grownups. I prefer children.''
Ferguson has been in the news this week for an influence-peddling scandal. A British tabloid reported Sunday that she had offered access to her former husband Prince Andrew for $724,000.
But on Wednesday she will be at BookExpo America at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, where she will attend a breakfast for children's book authors and then sign books.
There's also rumors that the ex-royal could by considering a move to the Big Apple.
The duchess apologized for "a serious lapse in judgment'' after the influence-selling story appeared in the News of the World.
She has written several children's books including "Tea for Ruby'' and her latest series, ``Helping Hand Books.''
