Some of the seven New Jersey high school football players accused of sexually abusing younger teammates have made their initial court appearances.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey would not say how many players were in Family Court in New Brunswick on Tuesday. He also would not say whether his office would seek to move some — or all — of the cases to adult court.
The seven members of the celebrated Sayreville War Memorial High team face sex-crime charges stemming from the alleged hazing at Sayreville War Memorial High School. Authorities have said the alleged hazing occurred during a 10-day period last month.
All seven players have been suspended from school, pending the outcome of the investigation.
One defense attorney declined to comment.
