New York City's Department of Sanitation has issued a "snow alert" for Christmas Eve as a wintry mix of rain and some snow approaches the area.
Meteorologists say it's unlikely the city will have a white Christmas, but sanitation workers aren't taking any chances. Workers began loading hundreds of salt spreaders and preparing tire chains in case the city gets some winter weather.
Rain with a chance of light snow is expected to fall on the city and surrounding areas starting Monday evening.
