Samurai Sword-Wielding Man Arrested in Manhattan

The sword was 27 inches long, according to Port Authority Police

A homeless man was arrested Friday night in Lower Manhattan for carrying a 27-inch samurai sword, officials said.

Port Authority police said Orlando Lassiter, 51, was spotted carrying the sheathed sword and arrested near Barclay and Church streets at around 8:30 p.m.

He was charged with weapons possession and disorderly conduct, according to authorities.

Information on a lawyer for Lassiter was not immediately available.
