Saks Saleswoman Convicted of Grand Larceny

A former Saks Fifth Avenue jewelry saleswoman accused of stealing more than $1 million has been convicted of grand larceny and falsifying business records.

Cecille Villacorta, who's 52, faces up to seven years in prison on one grand larceny count when she's sentenced April 27 in Manhattan's state Supreme Court.

She was acquitted of more than 100 other counts.

Prosecutors say Villacorta's scheme included crediting customers for refunds on items they never actually returned.

They say she got thousands in unearned commissions and many happy customers who kept coming back and helped Villacorta ring up $27 million in sales from 2000 to 2006.

Defense lawyer Joseph Tacopina says he will appeal.
