“Rockefeller” Trial Wrapping Up

Attorneys to make closing arguments

The kidnapping trial of the man who calls himself Clark Rockefeller is wrapping up.

Jurors are scheduled to hear closing statements from prosecutors and defense attorneys on Monday and then begin deliberating.

Testimony ended last Thursday when a psychiatrist for the prosecution rebutted defense claims that Rockefeller, whose real name is Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, is mentally ill.

Dr. James Chu said the defendant exaggerated symptoms of mental illness and knew what he was doing was wrong when he kidnapped his 7-year-old daughter in Boston last July.

Two mental health experts for the defense testified that Gerhartsreiter suffers from a delusional disorder and therefore not responsible for his actions.
