NYPD Seeks 2 in String of Store Robberies

The NYPD is searching for a man in a string of store robberies across three boroughs that started in late August.

A surveillance video released by police Tuesday shows the suspect going into a convenience store on Ocean Avenue in Sheepshead Bay on Aug. 31, then waving a gun at a store clerk in one of the robberies. Police said he and another suspect took off with $2,500, two cartons of Newport cigarettes and the clerk's iPhone.

Days later and blocks away, another store on Bay 35th Street was held up. The suspects got away with $1,200 cash and the worker's iPhone.

Then late last month, the same men robbed a store in Ridgewood, Queens, taking cash and lottery cards, and most recently, on Oct. 12, they robbed a bagel store on Staten Island and got away with cash.

Jitendrakumar Patel, the clerk at the Ridgewood store, said the suspects jumped over the counter put a gun to his head, demanding money. He said the suspects took money from the cash registers and his pockets.

In all the robberies, police said the suspects had a red gun and a royal-blue string bag.

The suspects are described as being about 25 to 35 years old. One is about 5 feet 10 inches and 190 pounds, and the other 5 feet 9 inches and 180 pounds.
