Astorino: Christie Won't Back Me Because Cuomo “Has Something” Over Him

Republican New York gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino says he believes Chris Christie won't support him because of the ongoing controversy involving the George Washington Bridge lane closures and because his Democratic opponent Gov. Cuomo "has something" on the New Jersey governor.

Astorino wouldn't elaborate Tuesday on the "something" he alleged Cuomo has over Christie.

Christie is the head of the Republican Governors Association, which normally backs GOP candidates.

He said he would not support Astorino because the race was "a lost cause." Cuomo leads Astorino by nearly 40 points in the polls.

Christie has been embroiled in a political flap over lane closures near the George Washington Bridge.

The bridge is run by the Port Authority, which is managed jointly by New York and New Jersey.

Representatives for Christie and Cuomo did not immediately comment.
