Bat-Wielding Driver Accused of Punching Motorist, Smashing Windows

A 25-year-old Long Island driver was arrested after a road rage incident during which police say he allegedly smashed another motorist's windows with a bat and punched him.

Police say the motorist had just changed lanes on the Long Island Expressway before dawn Sunday when he noticed a car tailgating him.

Police say the BMW then cut off the motorist near Holtsville, stopping traffic and causing a minor crash between two other vehicles.

Police say the driver came out with a bat, broke the victim's windshield and two other windows and punched him in the face.

The BMW sped off, but police later arrested Jason Parker, of Central Islip. He's charged with criminal mischief, assault and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Parker is scheduled to be arraigned Monday. Information on an attorney wasn't immediately available.
