Retired NYPD Liaison to Gay Community Dies of 9/11-Related Lung Disease

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly calls him a "consummate professional"

A retired NYPD officer who served as a liaison between the police and the city's gay community has died from a lung ailment suffered after 9/11.    
 
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Detective Kevin Czartoryski died on Sunday.

He said the officer had "served with great distinction in the Office of Deputy Commissioner Public information and as my liaison to the LGBT Community.''      

Kelly called the 46-year-old Czartoryski "a consummate professional ... who will be missed terribly."
