Man Arrested in Killing of Retired FDNY Lieutenant in NJ

Police say they've arrested a man in connection with the violent death of a retired FDNY firefighter in New Jersey.

Richard Doody was found in his Barnegat Light home on the Jersey Shore Monday after a family member was unable to reach him, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

An autopsy determined Doody died of blunt force trauma to the head and slash wounds to the neck in a homicide.

Prosecutors and Long Beach Township police arrested 52-year-old Conrad Sipa of Colts Neck Wednesday on murder and weapons charges.

His bail was set at $1 million. It's not clear if he has an attorney.

Doody was a 29-year veteran of the FDNY and based on Staten Island before retiring in March 2011, according to NJ.com.

It's not clear if the two men knew each other or discussed a possible motive.
